Saga Kakala celebrates GAIA, it’s fourth collection, designed by Icelandic architect Gulla Jónsdóttir

The scarves’ design, inspired by Gulla’s homeland, Iceland, and mother earth, consists of 10 unique designs on mulberry double georgette and chiffon silk scarves as well as cashmere/wool scarves. The exhibition consists of a video installation that illustrates the inspiration behind the collection.

Gulla is known for her unexpected, poetic modern architecture and interior spaces that work in harmony with their surroundings. Her work has a deep connection with Icelandic nature, the very fabric and force of life. In it lies the genesis of her design, which flows from architecture to fashion.

Saga Kakala was created by its Creative Director, actress and entrepreneur Ingibjörg Gréta Gísladóttir, in 2013. Together with various artists and designers she produces fashion accessories, particularly silk and cashmere scarves. The Icelandic word “saga” means story and the Icelandic sagas are one of history ́s literary treasures. “We at Saga Kakala believe that fashion is a powerful vehicle for storytelling and expressing oneself. That’s why every collection tells its own story.” Ingibjörg Gréta explains.

Curator's talk will take place on Satuday 25.03. at 14:00

Opening event takes place in Sandhótel, Laugavegur 34-36, Reykjavik 101.
